Gale is a shy wizard living in a small village on the salty coast. Even among wizards, Gale is exceptional. He spends the majority of his time studying the arcane arts and running a magic & oddities shop. Long ago, Gale made a dangerous deal with a demon that granted him a thousand years of youth in exchange for his left eye. Blinded by his obsession with forbidden magic, Gale failed to understand the consequences of longevity — he is cursed to mourn the passing of everyone that he loves. After his beloved wife Jane died suddenly, Gale locked himself away with his studies and far from mortal life.

Sunny is Gale's love interest throughout the story. They first meet as Gale is looking for a specialist to assist him in the rescue of Alowyn. Gale becomes smitten with Sunny's positivity and energy, finding her sunshine brings life to his wilted petals. Eventually, he overcomes his fear of death by learning to love her.

Edith is Gale's teacher and adoptive mother. Edith was a friend of Gale's birth parents before they passed away in a magic-related accident when Gale was barely old enough to remember. Edith took in Gale as both a son and a student, taking him on as her protégé as he got older. The two remain relatively close despite Gale's proclivity for solitude following the passing of his wife Jane.

Val is Gale's adoptive younger sister. She was similarly taken in by Edith at a young age. Though she would never admit it, she looks up to Gale and goes to him for advice when she's lost. Additionally, Val is the only one in his life who addresses the elephant in the room. They are 100 years apart but share a close relationship despite that.

Appearance

Gale is both handsome and beautiful. ♥ He clearly keeps up with his appearance, taking good care of his long, silver hair. He has a tall and lean stature that he softens with delicate, fine clothing. His right eye is a deep, natural purple. His left eye was replaced after making a deal with a demon. In its place, he has a false, golden eye that shimmers with a cloudy mist of gilded flakes suspended in an emulsion. Floating on the surface of the eye is a luminescent mark of his contract, a pentagram. His gaze with his left eye lags behind his right, and he is completetely blind in it.

Clothing

He has a tall and lean stature, and he likes to wear airy clothes and regal silhouettes. He loves motifs inspired by the night sky and anything that sparkles. Gale wears a variety of gold jewlery. Despite wearing several rings on a given day, he never wears one on his ring fingers, mainly out of grief. Occasionally, he wears gold-rimmed reading glasses with a beaded chain. He is only dubiously aware that he looks like someone's grandma when he wears them.
